Auxilary Classes

Each week our students attend the following auxiliary classes:

Art - Mrs. Stephens tstephens@dublinvcc.org
Students in grades K-5 participate in a bi-weekly art lesson with emphasis on basic drawing and care and use of materials.  Students use a variety of materials such as permanent pen, pencil, watercolors and acrylic oil pastels while learning to improve on their visual interpretation of subjects drawn.  Students also learn about featured artists.

Computer - Mr. Cloke jcloke@dublinvcc.org
All students learn basic keyboarding skills, use computer software to enhance academics and develop Internet research skills.  Students in fifth grade are also taught the use of Microsoft Office products such as Excel spreadsheet, word processing and Power Point presentations.

Library - Mrs. Young - byoung@dublinvcc.org
During the library class, students are taught the proper care and organization of library materials along with basic library skills.  Students have the opportunity to check out library books, experience story times and participate in Scholastic, Christian and Used Book Fairs.

Music - Mrs. Robertsmroberts@dublinvcc.org
Elementary students grades K-5 have classroom music.  Children are taught favorite songs, music theory, and music appreciation.  All children third grade and up may participate in school choirs, which perform on occasion throughout the year.

Instrumental lessons are also available before school for an additional fee. Children must furnish their own instruments.

Physical Education and Health - Mrs. Metcalf
smetcalf@dublinvcc.org
Physical education and health are considered important subjects directly affecting the child in the classroom.  All grade levels receive PE instruction.  Children in the lower elementary grades receive perceptual and motor development training.

Talented and Gifted (TAG) - Mrs. Adkins jadkins@dublinvcc.org
Valley Christian Elementary offers TAG (Talented and Gifted) classes in math for students in fourth and fifth grade who have scored in the gifted range on the Otis Lennon and demonstrated above average capabilities on standardized tests and in their classroom work.
In addition we have a creative writing class for our fifth grade students.
