International Students | Admissions

Christian Education is at the core of Valley Christian’s mission; we are completely committed to providing the best education possible for our students in a spiritual context.  Our interdenominational, culturally diverse community is encouraged to develop the leadership potential necessary to equip students to enter adulthood as world-changers.  VCS offers a comprehensive preschool through twelfth grade curriculum that prepares students with the head knowledge and the heart skills to become a valuable member of society.

Our mission is to provide a college preparatory education from an evangelical Christian worldview that will equip students with the skills to flourish spiritually, excel academically, succeed vocationally and thrive relationally in order to further God’s kingdom on earth.

Valley Christian Schools has a growing international student population.   Our schools (K-12) accept international students who reside in the Tri-Valley area and currently live with their parents.  International students entering grades 6 through 11 who reside with a host family/legal guardian are encouraged to seek admission into VCS.   Students are not allowed to enter VCS for 12th grade only.  Due to requirements set forth by colleges and universities, 11th grade academic records must be included as part of the college application.  Preference is normally given to 9th grade applicants in order to provide them with a four-year high school course of study.  Incoming students will not be placed higher than 11th grade even if they have completed a higher equivalent in their own country.

Kindergarten through Grade Five International applicants should contact the Elementary School Registrar, Christine Perez, at [925] 560-6277 for more information.

International students seeking admission into Valley Christian Schools must exhibit academic strength, English proficiency, social maturity, and a desire for an education centered on the teachings of Christ.

Valley Christian Schools seeks international students who are exemplary in their academic performance and who demonstrate the ability to withstand the rigors of our academic climate.  Only fully qualified students will be accepted into the program.  The admission process requires the following:

  1. A completed Application Packet including fees, admissions testing and personal interview.
  2. TOEFL testing to determine English proficiency.  Scores reflecting a test taken within one year are acceptable.  Students are required to achieve a score of 475 (written-based) and 53 (internet-based).  ETS is to mail official score sheet to VCS for evaluation.  A score of 550 (paper) or 80 (internet-based) is typically required for admission to colleges and universities.  A SLEP test will also be accepted and requires a listening comprehension raw score of 61 and reading comprehension raw score of 52.  (JR/HS applicants only.)
  3. Documentation that indicates the student’s academic abilities.  This requires the student provide transcripts from the past two years.  All transcripts must be translated into English.
  4. Educator Recommendations

  6. Copy of Immunization Record
